The Art of Hurley Making
As a full member of the Irish Guild of Ash Hurleymakers, John handcrafts the hurls from the finest ash. The video here shows John at work in his workshop. The video, From Ash to Clash: The Art of Hurley Making, was produced by Teagasc and is on view in the GAA museum in Croke Park.
Authentic Irish Ash
The quality of the Ash used in making a hurl is of great importance. That’s why Jordan Hurls take great care in sourcing the finest ash. One place where we get our ash from is Dalgan Park in Co Meath. Ash trees planted on the grounds of the Columban priests retirement home are now used to make handcrafted authentic Irish hurleys in John Jordans workshop.
The second excerpt below from the ‘From Ash to Clash’ video, features John explaining how the Ash is sourced.
